Professors James Arthur and Kristján Kristjánsson have recently authored a new paper entitled ‘Some Clarifications on ‘Character Sought’ as an Essential Part of Character Education’ for the Centre’s Insight Series. This paper explores how the concept of ‘character sought’, whereby individuals voluntarily seek out and optimise opportunities for virtue development, fits into an ideal model of character development and education in relation to a neo-Aristotelian perspective and in the context of Enlightenment ideas about autonomy, authenticity, and purpose.
